HOW TO STOP MORNING BREATH
Morning Breath
is due to the growth of bacteria on the back of the tongue during the
night. It is very simple to explain. When you sleep certain things happen.
-
Your
saliva flow slows down. This slowdown means you are getting less
oxygen to the back of your tongue and throat. This is a sign to
the anaerobic bacteria to quickly start increasing in numbers and to
start producing sulphur compounds. These sulphur compounds are actually
what you taste when you wake up in the morning.
-
Mucous in
the nasal area thickens. When this mucous thickens it tends to sit
at the back of the throat. This mucous is an excellent food source for
the anaerobic bad breath bacteria as it is very high in protein. The
bacteria eat this mucous and make sulphur compounds as its waste
material.
-
Your
tongue falls to the back of your throat. This allows your tongue to
be colonised and coated with the bacteria and sulphur compounds. That is
why when you awake in the morning, you not only have morning breath but
you also have a sour taste on your mouth.
-
Bacteria
multiply during the night. Most people do not clean their tongue
before sleep. This means they are going to sleep with a mouthful of
bacteria. These bacteria breed a new generation every 4 to 6 hours. So
when you wake in the morning you can have up to two or three new
generations of bacteria in your mouth.
Simple Steps to Stop and
Prevent Morning Breath
We have two excellent ways to
stop Morning Breath. The BREEZECARE Treatment Kit is ideal in this
situation as it involves populating the tongue with KFORCE Clean S.
salivarius K12 bacteria that can fight against the bad breath bacteria
that build up during the night and cause bad breath. In fact the KFORCE
Clean mouthwash works best at night as sleep provides the least amount of
tongue movement.
Secondly, another way to stop
morning Breath is to use our BREEZECARE DRY MOUTH Mini Kit. This has our
neutral pH Triclosan rinse and Breeze Morning Fresh Oral Gel. The
interaction between these two products helps to promote low bacteria
counts during the night and provide fresh breath on awakening.
Also, regardless of which
option you choose, we recommend that you do the following:
-
Drink
Before Sleep. We recommend drinking a glass of water before sleep to remove as much debris as possible
from the throat area.
-
Tongue
Clean.
Bacteria build up on the tongue is the cause of Morning Breath. So the
cleaner your tongue is before sleep, the less bad taste you will have in
your mouth when you wake.
Added Steps for Post Nasal
Drip Sufferers
If you
suffer from Post nasal drip and or sinus problems then you also need to
clean out your nasal area thoroughly before sleep and on awakening.
-
Before
Sleep. Make sure to use the new FESS with EUCALYPTUS DECONGESTANT. This is
not necessary every night but once or twice a week. It not only helps to
open nasal airways for better breathing, but the Eucalyptus Oil will help to disinfect the nasal area.
-
When You
Wake. Use the FESS NASAL WASH to clean out the accumulation of
mucous that gathered in your throat and nasal area during the night.
Again, this is not necessary every day, but on an "as need" basis. You
will be the best judge of dosage.
